ACC Transcatheter Heart Valve Handbook

The American College of Cardiology have released a free online handbook on transcatheter heart valves for residents and fellows training in both cardiovascular medicine and cardiothoracic surgery.

 

The handbook is a fantastic resource that covers the basics including valvular anatomy, standard wires, and fluoroscopy; step-by-step guides for various prostheses and approaches; and current trials. The handbook is intended to evolve as do the transcatheter technologies as well.

Michael Seco

Dr Michael Seco is a Cardiothoracic Surgery Registrar at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, Australia. He has research interests in minimally invasive adult cardiac surgical techniques, including robotic-assisted coronary artery bypass grafting, transcatheter aortic valve implantation, and off-pump surgery. Dr Seco also builds and develops large scale databases used to perform clinical studies.
