Dr Peter Brady
Prof David Celermajer
Prof Celemajer is is the Scandrett Professor of Cardiology at The University of Sydney and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and a Group Leader and Clinical Director at the Heart Research Institute. He has a special interest & is an expert in congenital heart disease. He will be speaking on assessment and management of the tricuspid valve, and assessment and management of Ebstein’s anomaly.
A/Prof Richard Chard
A/Prof Chard completed his medical training at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital and Brigham Women’s Hospital. He is currently the Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Westmead Hospital. He has special interests in the management of thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms, the use of deep hypothermic circulatory arrest, and mitral and tricuspid valve repair.
Prof Stuart Grieve
Prof Grieve holds the Parker-Hughes Chair of Radiology, Sydney University. Prof Grieve has a comprehensive understanding of MRI and its applications, from cellular biochemistry and physiology to MRI physics, programming and advanced image analysis techniques. Stuart completed his doctorate at the University of Oxford on the development of rapid imaging techniques in MRI and also completed postdoctoral positions using solid state NMR to study membrane-bound proteins.
Dr Lisa Horrigan
Dr Julies Humphries
Dr Humphries completed an Advanced Echocardiography Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, USA. She has special interests in the management of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, diseases of the ascending aorta including Marfan syndrome and bicuspid aortic valve aortopathy, and common adult congenital heart diseases. She is locally & internationally recognised as an expert in imaging during left atrial appendage occlusion procedures & is involved in the structural heart program at The Prince Charles Hospital.
Dr Eugene Kotylar
Dr Kotylar is the Secretary of the Pulmonary Hypertension Society. He is a cardiologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney & a Conjoint Senior Lecture at the University of New South Wales. He has special interests in heart failure, transplantation & pulmonary hyertension.
Dr Marek Nalos
Dr Nalos is an Intensive Care Specialist and Director of Trauma Services at Nepean Hospital, Penrith. He was a research Fellow in the Critical Care Research Program, Kuopio University, Finland and in the Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care, University of Ulm, Germany. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, Nepean Clinical School. His other research interests include immune function and lactate metabolism in critical illness.
A/Prof Greg Scalia
A/Prof Scalia is a cardiologist at The Prince Charles Hospital, Queensland. He was one of the first cardiologists to assist with the use of 3D TOE in transcatheter procedures in Australia. He will be speaking at the symposium on the assessment of pulmonary hypertension.
Dr Chong Tan
Dr Tan is an Anaesthetist at The Austin Hospital with special interests in pain medicine, transoesophageal & transthoracic echocardiography, as well as cardiac, thoracic & regional anaesthesia. Dr Tan is active in anaesthesia research, continuing education and teaching, particularly in the rapidly expanding field of ultrasound applications in anaesthesia.
Prof Darren Walters
Prof Walters an Interventional Cardiologist and Executive Director of the The Prince Charles Hospital, Queensland. He represents the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand on the ARC National Committee and is a member of the ILCOR Acute Coronary Syndrome Taskforce. Prof Walters was a pioneer of the use of catheter-based devices for the treatment of structural heart disease in Australia.
